My name is Alex. I buy tax credits for corporations.
I've invested over $1 billion in tax credits on behalf of top banks and offer end-to-end tax credit acquisition services.

I manage 100% of the clean energy tax credit transfer process on behalf of eligible investors who wish to participate in the transferable tax credit market. (See who qualifies under FAQ). Through an extensive professional network in the energy sector built over nearly 20 years, I source attractive tax credit opportunities, conduct comprehensive due diligence, and lead contract negotiations using the same discipline and rigor I exercised on behalf of major financial institutions. Further, I have worked with highly experienced law firms to develop a simple and effective structure that allows me to handle the entire deal process for my clients so they can focus their time and energy on running their businesses. If you would like to understand how my structure works, contact me and let's discuss.
There’s no substitute for experience. Before founding Break Point Energy, I worked at Bank of America and GE Capital where 100% of my time was dedicated to investing in clean energy tax credit opportunities. (See About Alex.) I've spent thousands of hours negotiating renewable energy tax credit deal documents with sophisticated project developers, building financial models to evaluate operational scenarios, reviewing project agreements for underlying risks, and structuring mitigants for credit committee approval. Because of that institutional buy-side experience, I'm exceedingly qualified to work alongside my legal advisors to acquire tax credits for my clients.
The tax credit transfer process is complex, time consuming, and requires a deep understanding of concepts specific to clean energy finance. I accept a limited number of engagements per year from clients that understand the importance of delegating deal execution to specialists who regularly navigate tax credit transactions. I'm often approached by companies who value smaller team discussions and quick decision making over a more bureaucratic experience. Buyers considering the services of a tax credit advisor, tax credit syndicator, tax credit fund manager, or tax credit broker in connection with at least $10 million in tax credits should contact me to understand my approach.

Cash earmarked for upcoming federal income tax payments can instead be used to acquire tax credits at a discount. As a result, an investor’s tax obligation can be fulfilled by the full value of the tax credit, while the investor enjoys cash savings equal to the value of the discount. (See an example on my Transferability page).

Tax credit sellers use transfer deal cash proceeds to develop and operate clean energy projects across the United States.

Tax credit acquisitions can improve financial health metrics like cash earnings per share.
